He’s a native of Seattle, who grew up aboard a sailboat, and often found adventure around the islands and marinas and commercial docks of the Pacific Northwest… sometimes trouble. He now lives in California with his family but frequently returns to his hometown to soak up the ever-present company of the rain.
His debut novel, PAST CRIMES, won the Anthony, the Macavity, and Strand Magazine’s Critics Award for Best First Novel. It was also nominated for the Edgar, Barry, and Nero awards. Publishers Weekly and Library Journal gave PAST CRIMES starred reviews, and Kirkus called the book “an exciting heir to the classic detective novel”.
The book introduced readers to an Army Ranger named Van Shaw, whose troublesome past called him home just in time to become the lead suspect in a murder… his grandfather’s murder.
